Design and display
The Edge looks more like a traditional watch, with a recycled aluminum case, a less rectangular shape and a side button. Its AMOLED screen is about 6.9mm wider than the Inspire 3's, which makes notifications and workout stats easier to read. It comes in olive green, black, white and coral peach. The Inspire 3 is a slimmer plastic band in pink, orange or black, and is the less noticeable option if you want a tracker that stays out of the way.
Fitness and health features
Built-in GPS is the biggest difference. The Edge can track runs and rides without your phone, and Google claims 40% better tracking accuracy. It supports more than 50 exercise modes, has a skin temperature sensor, gyroscope and altimeter, and connects over Bluetooth 5.4. It also adds an ECG app with AFib detection and monthly insights into blood pressure and insulin resistance.
The Inspire 3 covers the basics: optical heart rate, blood oxygen tracking, sleep and 20 exercise modes. For outdoor workouts it relies on your phone's GPS.
Battery life and durability
The Inspire 3 lasts up to 10 days on a charge, compared with up to a week for the Edge. Both are water resistant to 5 ATM, so they are fine for swimming and showers. Only the Edge has an IP68 dust rating.
Which Fitbit should you buy?

- Fitbit Inspire 3 ($99.95): best for everyday activity and sleep tracking on a budget, with longer battery life.
- Steph Curry edition ($220): the same Edge in an orange finish; only worth the extra $40 if you want the design.
